Maps and instructions

several helpful maps. We recommend that you print out this page and take

Below please find descriptions of how to get to Ringberg Castle by car.
These descriptions were adopted with only minor changes from an earlier
Ringberg workshop. We hope that they are still up to date.
Getting to Ringberg Castle from Munich Airport (München Flughafen) by Car:
Ask your rental car company for a map of the greater Munich area and
particularly for instructions how to find highway (Autobahn) 92. Depending
on the time of day, expect a lot of traffic on the highways.
Take highway 92 until crossing with highway 9, then follow highway 9 until
crossing with highway 99, to drive round downtown Munich. At crossing of
highway 99 and 8 (Brunntal Dreieck), follow highway 8 south, direction
Salzburg, until exit (Ausfahrt)
Holzkirchen. Leave highway 8 and follow street no. 318
south, general direction Gmund, city of Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern. In Gmund
follow street no. 307, east of lake Tegernsee, general direction city of
Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern.
After reaching Rottach-Egern, continue on street no. 307 towards Kreuth.
Just outside of Reitrain, at a slight left turn of street no. 307 with a
pole with about a dozen signposts, leave street no. 307 to the right and
continue straight ahead for 100 m. The first small unpaved road to the right
leads uphill to the castle. It is safe to ignore the road signs saying
'Private Property' and 'No Entry'.
If you see a road sign on the left saying 'Wallbergstrasse' or 'Seilbahn
Wallberg' or if you even have already reached the city of Kreuth, you have
gone too far south.
You may wish to print out the maps provided through the links at the
top of this page.
Getting to Ringberg Castle from Munich Central Train Station (München
Hauptbahnhof) by Car:
Ask your rental car company for a detailed map of Munich and particularly
for instructions how to find highway (Autobahn) 8 south, general direction
Salzburg. Expect a lot of road construction all over the place and in
downton Munich few, if any, road signs on which direction to go to reach
highway 8.
Highway 8 begins near the city limits of Munich, there is no special ramp.
If you have reached highway 8 south, pass the crossing of highway 8 with
highways 99 and 995 (Brunntal Dreieck), follow highway 8 until exit
Holzkirchen. Leave highway 8 and follow street no. 318 south, general
direction Gmund, city of Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern. In Gmund, follow street
no. 307, east of lake Tegernsee, general direction city of Tegernsee,
Rottach-Egern.
After reaching Rottach-Egern, continue on street no. 307 towards Kreuth.
Just outside of Reitrain, at a slight left turn of street no. 307 with a
