In the last few years, the Spitzer Space Telescope has completed the
GlIMPSE and MIPSGAL I and II surveys of the Galactic plane at
mid-infrared wavelengths, uncovering thousands of previously unknown
intermediate and high mass YSOs. In this talk I will review our
work on modeling the spectral energy distributions of young stellar
objects; and some recent results modeling young massive stars. I will
also briefly present our current work on assembling a high-quality
point-source catalog of IR-excess sources in the galactic plane,
which will enable us to model tens of thousands of intermediate and
high mass YSOs. Our goal is to better characterize the physical
conditions of both the massive stars themselves, and the many
lower-mass stars in their environments.
