in Heidelberg located at Königstuhl 17 69117 Heidelberg Phone : +49 (0)6221 528 0 Fax : +49 (0) 6221 528 246 How to go from/to Heidelberg to/from MPIA :BY BUS ORGANIZED BY THE WORKSHOP A bus shuttle will be made available to transport the conference participants from/to Heidelberg to/from MPIA. The bus will be leaving from the parking lot next to a big shop called "Bauhaus" located at "Kurfürstenanlage n.11" (see map. 10 min. walk from the Neckar hotel and 2 min. from the Kohler hotel). The bus will then have a second stop along the way to the institute at the regular bus stop on Kurfürstenanlage, opposite to the Peterskirche (see map). The bus is scheduled : - to leave Bauhaus as follows:
From the Peterskirche stop 5 minutes later. - to leave the MPIA to Bauhaus in Heidelberg as follows :
The bus will stop at the Peterskirche on the way down. BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION From Bismarckplatz (city center main plaza), take bus no. 39 direction "Königstuhl". This bus will be leaving every hour on the hour to Königstuhl where MPIA is located: - 7:00am, 8:00am, 8:30am, 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, etc. Once you arrive at the bus stop "Königstuhl", follow the signs to walk to the Max-Planck-Institut. Bus no. 39 leaves every hour on half the hour from Königstuhl to Heidelberg as follows: - 8:30 am, 9:00am,...,12:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm, etc. BY TAXI Taxis are most likely waiting and available at Bismarckplatz, and/or the Hotel Crowne Plaza (where you arrive with the Lufthansa Bus). The fare to MPIA is 16 to 22 Euro. Tel.: (6221) 3 76 76 BY CAR Once at Bismarckplatz, which is considered the centre of town, follow signs direction "Schloss" (castle). The castle is represented by its symbol which is its silhouette. No other notations usually accompany this symbol. Then, follow the signs "Königstuhl". At the junction at the top of the hill, please follow the sign "Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie". Turn left. Stay on the main road and follow sign "Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie" on the left. After about 100m turn right and follow the access road to the MPIA. The MPIA gate is open on working days from 6:30h to 18:45h.
