From
the HAUPTBAHNHOF to BISMARCKPLATZ to the KöNIGSTUHL

woods on the same path for about 20 minutes, you'll
reach the paved MPIA access road. Turn left. The institute
is at another 5 to 7 minutes walk.

bus schedule varies with time of year: during the summer
season (May to September approximately), the bus will
not come to the Königstuhl unless it is specifically
requested through a phone call.

Heidelberg
has an extensive bus and Straßenbahn (street car) system which
will take you just about anywhere you want to go. Buses run less frequently
in the evenings (after 19:00) and on weekends and holidays. There
are two main bus/straßenbahn stops from where you can connect
to almost any other buses: HAUPTBAHNHOF
(HD's main train station) and BISMARCKPLATZ
which is considered the centre of town (Altstadt) and where the Hauptstraße
begins. The Hauptstraße is the main commercial street in the
old city and is a pedestrian-only zone.
Bus/Straßenbahn
tickets can be purchased at automatic booths or from the driver. In
Heidelberg, you'll need a ticket for the Heidelberg area (Großwabe
Heidelberg, 1,80 Euro per adult). This ticket is good for one and
half hour from the time of purchase/validation and can be used on
multiple buses. Daily, weekly and monthly passes are available and
can be purchased at the Hauptbahnhof or Bismarckplatz, during regular
business hours.
In
front of the Hauptbahnhof, you may visit the TOURIST INFORMATION
CENTRE which will provide you with a map of Heidelberg and location
of hotels. It is opened from 9:00 to 19:00 daily, except Sundays from
10:00 to 15:00.
