LBTB

The LBTB, or LBT Beteiligungsgesellschaft, is a community of five research institutes in Germany that are taking part in the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) project.
    The five institutes are:
  • MPIA – Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie, Heidelberg
  • MPE – Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik, Garching
  • MPIfR – Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie, Bonn
  • AIP – Astrophysikalisches Institut Potsdam
  • LSW – Landessternwarte Heidelberg-Königstuhl

Kostengraphik   The LBTB covers 25% of the total cost of the LBT and in return, receives 25% of the available observing time. Apart from the cash contributions, the LBTB provides the two near-infrared spectrographs LUCIFER 1 and 2 the interferometric beam combiner LINC-NIRVANA the high-resolution PEPSI, spectrograph as well as the Acquisition, Guiding- and Wavefront-sensing units (AGW).
