Set-up of the guided tours
- Axel Quetz receives the bookings for the tours. He plans the stations and informs the relevant parties including the student-contact, i.e. Jochen Tackenberg.
- Vesselina is then looking for a student willing to give the tour.
If you happen to be this student, that's awesome. Public outreach is important not only for the institute and astronomy in general but also for yourself.
- As the student tour-guide you are now expected to do the following:
- Contact the person from the visiting group as soon as possible, to clarify their particular interest, how they are coming up (inform them about the hourly bus connection), if they are coming by bus, do they know the way from the bus stop to the institute etc.

- Because of the lack of staff at the reception in the afternoons, it may be necessary to arrange that the visitor group can enter the main building when they arrive, e.g. using the outdoor telephone at the entrance to contact you.
- Give a 30 minutes presentation (see below) about the institute and if desired your own work (briefly).
- Guide the group to the different stations, where the actual talking is done by the station people.

- It is also very welcome to utilise the TV at the main entrance or the staircase images so that the visitors can get an idea of what is done at the MPIA.

- the ccd room
- the infrared lab
- the telescope in the Elsaesser lab will soon also be offered again
Once upon a time students had to organise the whole guided tour. Back then it was important to know who to adress for which station. I leave this here, in case you need something special for a tour...

- 70cm-Telescope: André Müller, Jan Pitann, it will take at least 30 min!!!
