- 3D global non-ideal MHD simulations
Plasma beta distribution in a
2 Pi steady state model of a proto-planetary
disk (1-10 AU).
We study 3D global
stratified MHD simulations of proto-planetary disks in a spherical
coordinate system. Studys are done with net or zero-net initial azimuthal
or vertical magnetic fields. We investigate turbulent properties and
motion of the gas and micro-sized dust. In recent work we include also a
proper resistivity profile in our simulation which is calculated
dynamically using X-ray and Cosmic ray ionization as well as a reduced chemical
network.
- FLD Radiative Transfer
With the
recently developed radiative transfer module by Rolf Kuiper we are able
to set up a realistic temperature profile in the disk which is calculated with frequency depended
irradiation as well as a proper dust opacitie table.
- Godunov MHD methods
We study and test the different MHD methods for Godunov schemes in global
simulations and compare on numerical diffusion, especially constrained
transport methods. In recent work we develop a conservative numerical scheme
which is based on pure cell center variables (5th order GLM method).
