Abstract:
We have simulated the gravitational collapse of a molecular cloud core from a density of 10−18 g/cm3 all the way to the formation of the protostellar core at stellar densities of around 1 g/cm3, with full 3D smoothed particle radiation magnetohydrodynamics. We capture the formation of both the first and second hydrostatic cores, and the launch of outflows during both the first and second core stage. We investigate the roles of radiative feedback and magnetic fields on the jet launching process, and how the outflow from the stellar core interacts with the first core. We are also able to follow the development of the stellar outflow for several years after the formation of the protostellar core. We also determine the properties of the stellar core, including its mass, size and magnetic field strength at birth.
