A pan-chromatic imaging and spectroscopic survey (PI: Scoville,
CalTech) of a 2 square-degree field designed to probe galaxy and SMBH
(super-massive black hole) evolution as a function of cosmic
environment.
A high angular resolution survey of the molcular gas
properties (distribution, kinematics) in the central kiloparsec of Low
Luminosity AGNs (Active Galactic Nuclei) aimed to study the fueling
mechanims of their central black holes. Complemented by an imaging
survey of the atomic hydrogen emission using the VLA (HI-NUGA).
LINC-NIRVANA: The German-Italian Beam Combiner for the LBT
LINC-NIRVANA (LN) is an imaging interferometer that is working in the
near-infrared. MPIA is leading an international consortium of
institutes in building LN for the Large Binocular Telescope at Mt
Graham in Arizona.
KINGFISH: Key Insights into Nearby Galaxies: Far-Infrared Survey with Herschel
A Herschel Open Time Key Programme to study the dust and ISM
properties of nearby galaxies via far-infrared imaging and
spectroscopy on a sample based on the SINGS (Spitzer Infrared Nearby
Galaxies Survey; PI Kennicutt).
S4G: Spitzer Survey of Stellar Structure in Galaxies
A Spitzer Exploration Science Legacy Program to obtain deep IRAC 3.6
and 4.5micron images of a large and unbiased sample of over 2,300
nearby galaxies sampling all Hubble types from dwarfs to spiral to
elliptical galaxies to construct a representative catalog of galaxy
structure and stellar mass properties.
LeMMINGs: Legacy e-MERLIN Multi-band Imaging of Nearby Galaxies
An e-MERLIN Legacy survey to image at sub-arcsecond resolution 286
galaxies down to micro-Jansky sensitivy at 20 and 6cm to study the
relation between star formation and nuclear activity.
