The MPIA conference series
at Ringberg Castle

EPoS 2006 The initiating conference (81 Registrations, 63 Participants)

Time: 28 August 2006 - 1 September 2006
Focus: Getting an overview where we stand in research about the initial phase of star formation.
Special Approach: Cover all relevant aspects but also allow for substantial discussion time.
Side focus: Highlight the underlying approximations and assumptions made in numerical and observational methods.
Result: The conference saw unexpectedly intense discussions, and revealed how much of the basic ingredients and processes of the first phase of star formation are actually still controversely debated.
Conclusion The participant's feedback was extremly positive and and it was considered to be a fruitful forum for the progress in the field. Therefore, a successor meeting was suggested in a medium time intervall of 2 years.
