Self-consistent modeling

Assumptions such as radiative-convective or chemical equilibrium allow us to predict the atmospheric temperature and compositional structure. Such one-dimensional atmospheric solutions can be compared to retrieval results to determine if a retrieval finds a physically expected solution. Moreover, these so-called self-consistent models help to systematically study a given atmosphere’s behavior upon variation of its fundamental parameters. We use and continue to develop our self-consistent petitCODE for our work.
