The research of extrasolar planets is one of the most active and fastest growing fields in current astrophysics. Observations made both from the ground, as well from space probes discover now nearly every day new, fascinating planetary companions around stars in the solar neighbourhood. <p><strong>Lecture program </strong></p> A preliminary program of the lecture can be found <a href=lecturemordasiniws1112.pdf>here</a>. <p><strong>Seminar content</strong></p> In the accompanying seminar, we will learn how to use the physics and numerical methods introduced in the lecture to simulate numerically a few simple, but yet important effects occurring during planet formation and disk evolution. For this, students will write simple numerical codes (helped by the lecturer) to simulate for example the gravitational interaction of protoplanetes. In the end, students are expected to present their results in a presentation.
