From Heidelberg

Use the motorway A 656, exit Heidelberg - Mitte. On the A 6, orientate yourself at the Mannheimer Kreuz, on the A 5 at the Heidelberger Kreuz onto the A 656 towards Heidelberg. Directly after the motorway exit, follow Bergheimer Straße to Bismarckplatz, turn right and follow the signs for Schloss and Königsstuhl. At the crossroads at the top of the mountain follow the signs to the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy. The MPIA's rolling gate is open on weekdays from 6:30 to 18:45.

From Leimen

Drive out of Leimen in a southerly direction, get into the right-hand lane at the end of the village, turn right at the traffic lights in the direction of Gaiberg. Follow the L 600 and turn left at the traffic lights before Gaiberg towards Königstuhl; after about 3 km follow the signs to the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy.
