Studying at MPIA
The Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg invites students to carry out their thesis research at MPIA.
We offer a stimulating research environment and involvement in exciting research projects. We welcome applicants from Germany and abroad. In principle there are four options for doing research at MPIA:
- To join a 3-month "Miniforschung" ("Mini research") project during undergraduate studies
- A Bachelor's thesis for your physics Bachelor's degree
- To do a 1-year Master's thesis within your physics Master's degree
- To do a 3-year PhD thesis (Doktor-Arbeit) including graduate studies of astronomy, typically in the framework of our International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS)
You can find information about "Mini-Forschung" on our internship page. If you want to know more about reasons for studying astrophysics, at MPIA, in Heidelberg, have a look at our handy study guide.
