I am a postdoc in the Gaia group of Coryn Bailer-Jones at the MPIA. As such, I am also a member of the Gaia Data Analysis and Processing Consortium (DPAC).

My research is focussed on the estimation of stellar atmospheric parameters from optical spectro-photometry and the calibration of synthetic spectra to match real spectra. This involves the development of methods and algorithms, as well as excessive programming.

In my own research, I have studied the time variability of quasar luminosity and performed a large-scale statistical analysis on thousands of SDSS QSO lightcurves.

Apart from that, I have also been working on galaxy morphologies during my PhD and master, their mathematical description and their unsupervised classification.

Furthermore, I worked on the methodological problems of detecting exoplanets in radial-velocity data.

Last but not least, I am keenly interested in modern statistical methods for the tasks of parameter estimation, model comparison and classification.
