Hector Hiss

Observational Cosmology

I am a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg working in Joe Hennawi's ENIGMA group.

My work is to study the thermal properties of the intergalactic medium using hydrogen absorption lines in spectra (the Lyman alpha forest) of objects known as quasars. The focus of our group is to understand the large-scale structure of the Universe and initial conditions of galaxy formation by studying both the intergalactic and the circumgalactic media.

I am also a member of the International Max-Planck Research School (IMPRS) for astronomy and cosmic physics at the University of Heidelberg.
