GAIA
 |
| GAIA is the next major astrometric mission. It's primary goal is to study the structure, formation and evolution of our Galaxy by building a highly accurate three-dimensional map of over one billion stars as well as measuring their velocities, chemical compositions and ages. The GAIA group at MPIA is responsible for developing software to classify astrophysical sources and to determine their stellar astrophysical parameters. |

Euclid
 |
| Euclid is a Dark Energy
mission within the Cosmic Vision Programme of the European Space
Agency (ESA). It will map 15.000 sq.deg of extragalactic sky with high
angular resolution visual imaging, infrared spectroscopy and
photometry. MPIA's Euclid group is playing a central role in the NISP
Near Infrared Spectrophotometer, providing photometry filters and
calibration source, as well as the NISP-P Instrument Scientist and
NISP Calibration Lead.

EChO
 |
| EChO is a candidate mission to
perform spectroscopy of extrasolar planet atmospheres. Equipped with a
passively cooled 1.2m telescope EChO is proposed for the third medium-size
launch opportunity M3 within the Cosmic Vision space science program of the European
Space Agency ESA. MPIA is leading the assessment study for EChO's science
instrument, a spectrometer for the wavelength range 0.4-16 μm. |
