From Galaxies to Planets: an elemental journey

  • Beginn: 09.02.2026
  • Ende: 13.02.2026
  • Ort: Schloss Ringberg
  • Gastgeber: Bertram Bitsch and Anders Johansen
  • Kontakt: bbitsch@ucc.ie
In this workshop, we will unite experts in galactic chemical evolution, stellar abundances and evolution, protoplanetary discs, and exoplanets to understand the overarching synergies between the different fields related to heavy elements and how their unification can help us to understand the puzzle of planet formation. Preparing for Gaia's Exoplanet Bonanza

  • Beginn: 08.03.2026
  • Ende: 13.03.2026
  • Ort: Schloss Ringberg
  • Gastgeber: Elisabeth Matthews and Coryn Bailer-Jones
  • Kontakt: gaiaexo2026@mpia.de
Exoplanet science will be transformed by the Gaia space telescope with the upcoming fourth data release (DR4). Time-epoch astrometry will allow exoplanets to be identified via the acceleration they impart on their host stars, with potentially many thousands of new planets detectable, as well as more massive brown dwarf and stellar companions. Layers of Understanding: Model Intercomparisons of Exoplanet Interiors

  • Beginn: 13.04.2026
  • Ende: 17.04.2026
  • Ort: Haus der Astronomie
  • Gastgeber: Lorena Acuña (MPIA), Laura Kreidberg (MPIA)
  • Kontakt: acuna@mpia.de
The aim of this conference is to assemble the exoplanet interior community to initiate systematic intercomparisons of interior models and foster discussions on model types, planetary targets, and parameter spaces. We will compile unpublished comparisons, plan future ones ahead of upcoming missions such as PLATO, Ariel, and ELT. [mehr]

Perspectives of Planet and Star Formation

  • Beginn: 22.06.2026
  • Ende: 26.06.2026
  • Ort: Haus der Astronomie
  • Gastgeber: Henrik Beuther
  • Kontakt: popsf2026@mpia.de
In the spirit of Thomas Henning’s career, this conference aims at discussing present and future research in the field of planet and star formation (and also a bit of the past). The one-week meeting will cover a diversity of topics, also from very different science approaches. Topics will be: Early phases of star formation, Planet formation — observations and theory, Instrumentation — ground and space, Exoplanets, Astrochemistry in space and laboratory [mehr]

Euclid SWG-PU Workshop 2026

  • Beginn: 05.07.2026
  • Ende: 10.07.2026
  • Ort: Schloss Ringberg
  • Gastgeber: Eduardo Bañados, Silvia Belladitta, Francesco Guarneri, Julien Wolf
  • Kontakt: euclid.ringberg@gmail.com
This workshop will bring together members of several Euclid science work packages—including quasars, Lyman-break galaxies, theory, AGN, and galaxy evolution—to discuss and coordinate high-redshift science within the Euclid collaboration. We will also invite members from other scientifically related SWGs and WPs. [mehr]

RADIO 2025

  • Beginn: 26.11.2025
  • Ende: 28.11.2025
  • Ort: Haus der Astronomie
  • Raum: Klaus-Tschira-Auditorium
  • Gastgeber: Matthias Hoeft (TLS), Fabian Walter (MPIA)
  • Kontakt: radio2025_support@vdr-verein.de
The conference will provide an insight into the activities of German radio astronomy and point out future challenges, but also opportunities. An important aspect besides radio astronomy is the management of the enormous amounts of data by the national data centres. The conference also provides a platform to communicate the assessment of the operators of these data centres regarding the technical requirements and ultimately the feasibility of future projects on a national level. NYRIA 2025

  • Beginn: 22.09.2025
  • Ende: 26.09.2025
  • Ort: Haus der Astronomie
  • Gastgeber: Daniel Mortimer, Maximilian Häberle, Bhavesh Rajpoot, Jonas Sauter (supported by a scientific organising committee)
  • Kontakt: mortimer@mpia.de
The 10th annual Network of Young Researchers in Instrumentation for Astronomy (NYRIA) workshop will be held at the Haus der Astronomie (HdA) and the Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie (MPIA). NYRIA brings together young researchers in the field of ground based, visible and infrared instrumentation. The workshop will see members of the community share their research, take part in tours and an instrumentation themed hackathon among other things. This 10th edition is particularly special as MPIA was the location of the first workshop in 2015. [mehr]

Quo Vadis Galaxy Evolution?

Ringberg Meeting: Puzzles of Star Formation II

Ringberg Meeting
  • Beginn: 04.05.2025
  • Ende: 07.05.2025
  • Ort: Schloss Ringberg
Welcome to this workshop to explore the boundaries and puzzles in the field of star formation. This is the second incarnation of the Puzzles of Star Formation meeting (PoSFII), where the first edition took place at Ringberg castle in 2021. We do not anticipate the classical meeting where everybody presents and summarizes the most recent results, but rather we would like to dig deeper and decipher the real problems in the field that still need to be solved.
