A series of short videos presents the research fields and work areas of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg. In addition to the research departments on galaxies and cosmology (GC), star and planet formation (PSF) and atmospheric physics of exoplanets (APEx), the MPIA has laboratories, a data science working group and technical departments that develop and build astronomical measuring instruments.

MPIA – Atmospheric Physics of Exoplanets (APEx)
In this video, Laura Kreidberg, Sebastian Zieba, Maria Steinrück and Paul Molliére explain the main research areas of the Atmospheric Physics of Exoplanets (APEx) department. The APEx department uses observations from telescopes on Earth and in space, computer simulations and develops the measuring devices for the next step in exoplanet research.

This department uses observations with telescopes on Earth and in space, computer simulations and develops the measuring devices for the next step in researching the history of the Universe and the galaxies, including the Milky Way.
