The entire astronomically interested world is waiting impatiently for the first images and scientific data from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), ESA (European Space Agency) and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) have selected some striking objects and observed them with the instruments of the JWST. However, which ones they are - and the data itself - will not be announced until 12 July 2022. The Haus der Astronomie (HdA) and the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) invite the public to attend the presentation of these new images on 12 July 2022 at 20:00 in the HdA auditorium. Researchers from the MPIA will explain the images and place them in the respective subject area with a series of short lectures. HdA staff member Markus Nielbock will moderate the evening. To begin with, we will once again introduce the JWST and explain how the MPIA is involved in this new space telescope, both scientifically and technologically.
