Conferences & Workshops

Physics of Star Formation: From Galactic scales to protostellar disks

HHSF2022
  • Start: Dec 6, 2022
  • End: Dec 9, 2022
  • Location: Haus der Astronomie
  • Host: Henrik Beuther
The meeting will concentrate on the physical and chemical processes taking place over a broad range of scales, from extragalactic to individual star-forming regions, cores as well as protostellar disks. Evolutionary stages from the initial conditions for star formation to the end of the main accretion phase will be covered. [more]

Exoplanets in the 21st Century

  • Start: May 16, 2022 12:00 AM (Local Time Germany)
  • End: May 20, 2022 12:00 AM
  • Location: Max Planck Institute for Astronomy
The conference will gather experts on exoplanet studies in the fields of instrumentation, observations, and theory, from Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology (Caltech)m Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA), and the University of Heidelberg as well as invited external experts. The focus of the workshop will be on innovative methods to advance the field of exoplanet research in the upcoming decades. [more]

The Early Phase of Star Formation EPoS 2020 - Insights from Dynamics

EPoS 2022
  • Start: Apr 24, 2022 05:00 PM (Local Time Germany)
  • End: Apr 29, 2022 02:00 PM
  • Location: Schloss Ringberg
  • Host: Jürgen Steinacker
  • Contact: stein@mpia.de
EPoS meetings cover all aspects, but EPoS 2022 was designed to make an effort to highlight the impact of dynamics. Some of the questions to be raised are: What are the key observational parameters, do we have the necessary tools to derive the physical quantities, how realistic can we trace the dynamical aspect in simulations and what can we learn from the evolution of the momentum vector field?
